Quebec City to Ste-Croix
We have been busy being hosted by Katherine’s relatives that we hadn’t had much time to get caught up with our blog. We are more or less up to date with our posts now but are still behind on our pictures so keep an eye out for them over the next few days.
And to everyone who have sent us comments and e-mails, we just want to let you know we’ve received them but we are a little behind on getting back to all of you! Even though we are unemployed bums it seems that we don’t have much down time on our hands lately. We are expecting to take things a bit slower, as it’s been over two weeks since we left and we’ve only had one rest day from biking. We are going to see if we can hold off until Montreal but we’ll see as we are starting to get a little tired.
Today we took the bike path around Quebec City and did some sightseeing. Although of all the places in the country it’s probably not the best place to celebrate Canada Day, it just how it worked out on our trip.. We anticipated St-Jean Baptiste Day in Quebec and Canada Day in Ottawa but we knew that was a little too ambitious!
The weather has been wild ever since we arrived in Quebec, with cool rain, winds, clouds and sun all mixed in during the day everyday for the last 4 days. With good rain gear it’s not really an issue, and with the bike paths and amazing hospitality we have been in great spirits lately. Today was no exception, with us biking to Ste Croix to visit Katherine’s relatives’ place in the country after staying at their place in Quebec city last night.
Katherine’s relatives have been spoiling us so much it is going to be hard to go back to our regular routine of camping! Tonight they cooked us an amazing supper, and we had a great time chatting to them all evening. Throw in a roof, hot showers and a comfortable bed, we are basically in heaven! Thank you so much! We are quite sad to go, knowing that we also won’t be having our unexpected encounters on the highway.
Tomorrow we are off towards Trois-Rivières. We’ve had random people tell us that the weather is suppose to get better tomorrow, so I hope they are right! I just wanted to add that I held my own with a conversation in French today. As I was biking by a person wanted to talk to me about where we were going/what we were doing etc. He asked if we were professionals (cyclists). I should have told him we are just unemployed travelling homeless! 🙂
