Day 164 – Rest day in Monterey

We visited the Monterrey aquarium today. It was much warmer this morning compared to the last few morning. We went to the aquarium first thing in the morning to try to avoid the Thanksgiving family crowd. Despite our efforts the aquarium was still packed with children, but I think we managed to avoid the peak time of the day.

After the aquarium we cycled around the famous 17-mile drive. It was a very scenic ride, although we were rapidly losing sunlight and were a little fatigued to be cycling. We ended up getting to a Whole Foods grocery store near our campground as the sun set. We had take out food there and cycled back uphill in the dark through quiet residential roads with both our front and bike lights beaming brightly. When we got back to our campground we found out that we were the only ones at the hiker/biker site and had a nice quiet evening.
