We headed south from Nehalem Bay State Park, where the staff and host and bid us good-bye after a nice chat. It was such a nice change from the unmanned Washington state parks. The host advised us to watch from seals on the rocks by Garabaldi. We headed along the well shouldered road in cloudy weather, stopped to watch the seals which were in the promised location!
After this we headed through Bay City, stopping at the Tillamook Smoke House outlet store for inexpensive but excellent beef jerky (soy free)! After this, we went on the the Tillamook Cheese Factory just a few miles down the road. Here we stopped for a tour of the factory and free samples! We also purchased some yummy products and left too full for lunch. We had a chat with several folks intrigued by our bikes and left with an invitation for whale boat rowing in San Francisco!
A quick grocery stop later, we headed out on the the Three Capes Scenic Drive. This was a gorgeous road that led along the edge of the water through Oceanside and Netarts and on to Cape Lookout State Park, our destination for the night. We secured our second yurt and once again throughly enjoyed it!
