This was our hardest day in a long while. We woke a bit late because of the raccoons and had to cover 90 miles if we were to get to Aberdeen and a motel before the oncoming storm.
We pushed hard all day. The first part along the Hood Canal was beautiful, with a reasonable volume of traffic. Adam got some nice pictures.
We stopped for lunch in Shelton at a Safeway/Starbucks.
After lunch, we knew that we needed to get going as we were going to be close getting into Aberdeen before dark. We had to take the freeway most of the way. This was okay for the most part, we were used to this from the Trans-Canada in the prairies. However, they really surprise you here as the bridges do not have any shoulder at all! Now you have heavy traffic on a freeway with bridges and no shoulder. It was awful riding and got worse when it started to rain.
Just before dark we sped into Aberdeen and checked into a motel to ride out the storm. We finally got to do laundry (6 days since the last chance) and dry out. Adam headed out for supplies and we enjoyed microwave meals!
