We left the inn feeling well rested and refreshed. The rain had stopped overnight. We knew we had a climb after Revelstoke, so it was tough to get too excited. We found the hill quite tiring. The cold and wet weather, combined with some tough hill climbing was starting to have a real drain on our energy. On the upside the temperature was warmer than it was in the rockies!
There was construction going on again on the highway, which ended up being a blessing to us as it grouped the traffic, and we had periods of quiet and peaceful riding. The scenery was nice but the top of the mountains had cloud cover. We stopped at “the last spike”, which was where the railroad across Canada was finally completed. We had no idea it was on our route!
It was a very cool day, but as we descended and got closer to Sicamous the temperature started to get much warmer. It was sunny and very warm when we arrived in Sicamous. It was wonderful!
We tried to get to the tourist office to get information about local campgrounds, but it had closed for the weekend. We stocked up on supplies at the local grocery store and backed tracked a little bit to get to a campground we had passed by on the way into town. We got a nice spot by the river and pretty much had the entire small campground to ourselves except for a couple RVs that stopped by later in the evening. We had a very filling dinner and called it an early night.
