Today it rained hard and was only in the single digits. We re-registered and headed into the village to get groceries and hang out at the visitors centre where it was warm and dry. There were nice chairs there and we sat for a while re-couping from the cold.
Once we got back to the campground we got the fire in the kitchen shelter going nice and hot and then headed out for a short walk to the old train station in Lake Louise. It was very wet and rainy but otherwise good to move around a bit. At the cooking shelter, we got to know Satomi and Tristan. Satomi is from Japan and Tristan is from France. So, between us, we had two French speakers and two Japanese speakers. Not a wonder we got along well! They offered to take us out to Lake Morraine the next day in their car, which we eagerly agreed to.
I made stew over the wood stove and it turned out nicely, a perfect meal for the weather. The cooking shelter was full of people as it was the only warm place around. It was a very international crowd from Europe and Australia and Canada! We had a wonderful time chatting with them, especially sicne we knew we weren’t leaving in the morning!
