We are planning on doing some sightseeing today as we wait for our replacement tires to arrive at the local bike shop. The weather looks to be improving and it has stopped raining and the sun is trying to come out. It was really nice to be indoors last night (and today) since it was very cold and wet outside.
Mean while on the news, apparently there is a heatwave hitting Eastern Canada, while we were stuck with a rainy cold front in Western Canada. Things are finally improving here though and thankfully there looks like no rain for the next little while.
Update:
The tires have arrived and we have picked them up and successfully installed them on our bikes (although it was a bit of a struggle – these touring tires are quite difficult to install). The guys at the Fresh Air bike shop were awesome for being able to order our tires in so quickly, and we didn’t have to spend any extra days waiting. They were also having an amazing sale and we bought a couple more spare tubes and a new pair of bikes shorts for Katherine.
We walked around Regina and did some sightseeing. It turned out to be a very nice sunny day (although still a little on the cool side). Regina has a city park that is larger than Central Park in New York City. What is incredible is that they had to dig out sediments from the lake so that it wouldn’t become a swamp. It was called “The Big Dig” and you can read about it here. We also saw a few Regina Rough Riders (CFL team) players repel down one of the buildings downtown.
We ordered take out Japanese food for dinner which was delicious. It is one of the first Japanese restaurants that I had been to in Canada that is actually run by a Japanese chef. It was called Michi and we recommend it.
