Day 22 – D’Oka to Montebello

Day 22 – D’Oka to Montebello

Due to our racoon encounter the night before, we had a slow start to the day but headed for the tourist office in Oka first thing. Of course, it was again closed. It seemed from our current bike map that we could just follow the coastal road ( in Quebec the cycling maps do not overlap region to region very well, they seem to think that one does not cycle from one to another).

In the next town, we picked up a map and found that there were some lovely cycling paths and roads in the area and we followed these all day. It was very, very hot, so we kept wetting our shirts in an attempt to cool down.

By nightfall, we made it to Montebello, a lovely little town and camped by the marina. It was expensive ($35 negotiated down to $30)  but very convenient to the grocery store and shops. We got swarmed by mosquitoes at the site but were treated to a local soccer game right in front of our site.
