Day 17 – Ste Croix to Nicolet

Day 17 Ste Croix to Nicolet

We had a wonderful stay with Katherine’s relatives, and were a little sad to have to get back on our bikes to leave. Our day started with a superb breakfast that was cooked by Dominique (very tasty pancakes!) and we squeezed in a few games of Nintendo Wii with Philippe and Dominique. We will need to have a rematch because we lost badly to Philippe in soccer. They even had a cycling game which we played the day before, where you pretend you are cycling on the Wii board.

After our great good bye photo with Philippe and Dominique (with our clean bikes and panniers thanks to the help of Philippe), we hopped on our bikes and headed towards Trois-Rivière. The weather was beautifully sunny and the winds quite calm.

The day was quite uneventful, but we did stop at a very random rock by the side of the road that had a plaque on it (we’ll let you read the story on your own). We then biked through Gentilly, where we got a couple photos of the Nuclear Power Plant from a distance.

We stopped at a family run fish store to get some fresh fish for dinner ($10 for 3 fillets of a fish in a French name we couldn’t translate.. perhaps not the best deal?). We eventually arrived at a campground outside Trois-Rivière in Nicolet, and after cooking our fresh fish that was not too bad, we called it a night!
