Today we cycled about 80kms from de la Republique Provincial Park in New Brunswick to a wilderness camping area along the Temis trail between Saint-Louis de Ha Ha and Riviere du Loup.
We had a quick chat with the cyclist who had shared our camping area the night before. It turned that they lived just beyond Rivere du Loup and they invited us to stay with them in 2 days, a very generous offer!
We headed into Quebec, la Belle Province, and took the obligatory border photos. Adam also took some pictures of an old WWII plane at the border.
Just as we entered Quebec, my Aunt and Uncle spotted us on the trail from the roadway and stopped their vehicle. We had a great chat and marvelled that they were able to spot us!
We were introduced to the amazing Quebec cycling network. This province really has it figured out! The tourism office has special cycling maps and the whole network is signed with special bicycle signs for the next towns, campground, motels and bakeries! It makes one wonder why the rest of Canada hasn’t caught up!
We stocked up on food at a grocery store and continued along the trail beside Lac Temiscouata. We saw an incredible number of cyclists…it was really nice.
At one point, we stopped and chatted to a woman and her partner along the trail and later we saw them loading their bikes into the car and she gave us some cash for the journey ahead!
We stopped at one of the nice wilderness campsites on the trail. In typical Quebec style, they cam with free firewood, a stove, tent platforms and an outhouse…really very nice!
